How can a ballet dancer grab a punk boy's attention?

I'm really into this guy who's a punk, but the problem is that i've never talked to him and I don't even have classes with him this semester. I just run into him frequently in campus, but i'm sooooo crazy about him! I think he has noticed that i follow him around and stare at him all the time! what can i do? i want to hook up with him!! Also, i'm a really shy, a ballet dancer and a good girl...is there any chance that something can happen between us?

Believe it or not, most guys/girls are attracted to what seems like the opposite of themselves. For example, a ballet dancer like you most likely finds him cute because he is everything you are not- something new and exciting than what you are used to. By now, he is probably fed up with punk girls. Try using that to your advantage, like trying out some of his music. Play hard to get. When you think you are sure to run into him, display a small pin or patch on your backpack of a small band that he likes, and comment on how you don't like mainstream music as much. (will work if he is original punk) Make it seem like you have many sides, the soft caring you, and the fiery inner side; which relates to him. Slowly talk to him, or offer to make a mix CD of some of your recommendations. Easiest way to get a guys digits! Mostly be yourself. Everyone has different sides, just open them up more. If he doesn't turn out great, you might still like the band's music!

It's hard to say, you haven't said anything about him. Just because hes into punk doesn't mean he wouldn't be into a ballet dancer. But the idea of punk + ballerina is cute.

Should I do ballet?

I recently started taking a Jazz dance class. It's for Beginners and Intermediate. I really really like it. The only problem is everyone seems to know what there doing and there really flexible. I am going to do Jazz in the fall but I really wanted to pick up another class. I am thinking about ballet but I am not sure if I will be flexible enough or good enough. What should I do?

Should I do ballet?opera mobile

Ballet is excellent. It is the mother of dance (jazz, tap, lyrical, everything else all comes form ballet) so it will help you regardless of what other types of dace you persue.

It is excellent for developing your core which is what helps you balance and turn.

Ballet in general is very basic, That is to say there are basic steps you perfect and progress from there all advanced ballet steps come right from what you do at barre. Professional athelets frequently take ballet so the learn to be 'light' on their feet.

So yes, you should absolutely go for it.

By your profile, you don't impress me as someone who'd look all that good in tights.
My college dance teacher always said everyone can dance....Give a shot! At least try it! If you don't like it, you can always stop but this way you won't wonder! The flexibilty and muscle strength will come with time. Practice everyday. You can do it! Good luck!
I would suggest talking to the Ballet instructor or even the Jazz instructor. Just because "everyone seems to know what they're doing" doesn't mean they do, btw. Take a beginning ballet class (and don't WORRY about being GOOD enough - you haven't DONE ballet, how could you be good at it yet??), or even yoga if you are concerned about flexibility.
If you are just starting out, the yes I suggest to take a ballet class. Every single type of class relates to ballet. Also, when you take a ballet class it shows your teachers you are a dedicated person, and you are more likely to move up to a higher level sooner. When I was younger I had one bad year of jazz class, because I was little I stopped taking it. Now that I am older, I have realized that stopping jazz at an early age caused me to stop advancing with my friends. Now after 12 years of classes, I tell everybody about my horrible mistake, and tell them to do otherwise.

So, just take up the ballet class. It will really help with your turns and flexibility. So many ballet moves are also done in jazz, so it would really help.

Best of luck!!
my first year i took ballet and jazz.

in fact, everyone in my class did.

i guess it is great to do ballet because it gives you the flexibility and technique for other classes. I actually became flexible through jazz rather than ballet. do what you have to do but if you were to pick up another type of dance, I'd definitely would recommend ballet.

Should i do ballet again?

i stopped 3 years ago and i thought i would stop missing it as much but i havent. i stopped for good reasons but i think that now i should of just changed dance schools instead of stopping altogether. i always find myself doing all the old steps and everything. do you think i should start doing ballet again??

Should i do ballet again?opera sheet music

Yes - start doing ballet again. I can tell from how you write that you feel remorse for quitting 3 years ago. Start back up and be aware that certain schools will teach differently. In either case, it will be a good way to get in shape, meet new people and improve your posture.

I think that when you grow up with something such as dancing you should never let go of it. Whether or not your the greatest. As long as you enjoy it and if you dearly miss it, start again. You will meet new people, teachers, and a different enviornment. Good Luck!!!!!!!!
I think you should definitely start it up again. Besides the fact that it is really fun to do, it is also good for your body. I have been doing it for almost 3 years and I love it. Its also strengthens your muscles.
Yes, I think you should begin Ballet again!!!:)

It will get you further in life!!!:)

I think you miss it alot, :)

Happy Dancing!!!

Just change dance schools. :)
If it's in your heart, try again.
absoultly! if you find yourself doing the steps, you were meant to dance! maybe you should try a new studio if you didnt like the way your old teacher taught, or whatever!

Happy Dancinng!! %26lt;33

Too old for ballet?

i have been doing jazz since i was 4 yrs old and tap since i was six i have just started doing american jazz and was woundering if i would be too old to start ballet and maybe make it a carrer i am 13 and a half now and really determind?

Too old for ballet?listen to opera

You are NOT too old for Ballet. Nobody is too old for anything! I had heard a man in his 50s taking Ballet Class meant for beginners and is doing quite well. Well, perhaps he can go for Ballet Exam after sometimes. If you want to make it a career, it is also definitely NOT too late. I know a girl who start Ballet at 16 and is now training to be a professional. Well, you have some dance experiences and I believe you will learn Ballet well... But practice hard! Sorry, but helping much but YOU ARE NOT TOO OLD TO DO BALLET PROFESSIONALLY. Bear that in mind. Good luck for you and your Ballet!

Too old for ballet?concert venue opera theater

never too old. Go for it.
nobody's ever too old for anything. go for it. who knows, you may find out you don't like it, just because you want to try it doesn't mean you have to make it a career. you may find you want to, but you're only 13, don't worry about that now, just have fun with it =]
Go for it and good luck.
you can do it if you put ur mind to it look at that one science teacher who ended up pro baseball in his mid 30's and look at that UFC fighter who was a math teacher turned fighter now . you just have to stay devoted in your goal and have enough faith in yourself and you can do anything good luck.
I started when i was 13 and i am now almost 15, and i ahve really progressed. i have thought about it as a career, not followed that idea, but go for it and good luck to you.

It is good you ahve done other dancing, as this shows you have the ability to learn moves fairly quickly.

get yourself a good ballet teacher, practise, what other people dancin 9go to the theatre/get videos) as it really helps you to know what it should look like, and has been proven that if you wacth something you can pick it up easier.

Also just try your hardest, but dont be too hard on yourself if you get it wrong, and dont over do it.

PS 13 is not old to start ballet!

I love ballet it is by far the best dance. You will have to learn the french names of moves ect but give it time nd it will come.

good luck!
you mights start out with younger kids, just because you won't know the terminollogy but since you've done a lot of jazz then you should catch on quickly! you'll be fine!
no. have you ever seen the nutcracker??? those dancers didn't look young to me.
never too old 4 ballet
Ive been dancing since i was 4 and still love doing it. I was in ballet since i was 11 and as i got older everyone quit and say ballet was for babies so i was 1 out of 3 girls my age (15) that actually stayed in ballet. The world needs more older ballet girls in class that are serious like u to actually make a carreer out of it. I think u should defienatly do ballet and then later on u can start pointe which can get u far if ur in companies like me where u do pointe dances like the nutcracker suite in NYC. Go for ur dreams and DO IT! Only the best will happen when u dance! Don't give up! Hope I Helped!!!
You aren't too old. Just don't get too frustrated if you aren't as good as the other people your age when you start. You will get there if you stay determined.
no, you're not to old.but don't wait a lot to start with classes anyway. start as soon as possible. good luck!
If you have done other disciplines of dance you already have the basic things you need to learn to do ballet. You may have to look around for a dance school that has beginner classes for teenagers, otherwise you will be starting with the littlies.
no, not at all. actually ballet will help you with all the other dances that you do.
no! you can start. my mom didnt start until she was 17 and she did great.

In which Cecchetti ballet grade do you learn the entrechat?

In which of the graded levels of Cecchetti ballet (1-7) do you learn the entrechat.

An entrechat is when the legs cross each other two or three times in the air before landing. Sometimes referred to as a double changement.

In which Cecchetti ballet grade do you learn the entrechat?city opera

I wish i could tell you, my ballet studio only goes up to level three. So, its in 4 or higher. We do use entrechat, but in my higher class, and its freestyle. We don't do Cecchetti in that class. Good luck finding out your answer! :)

Do you think guys who dance ballet are gay?

One day I went to this ballet. In the show everyone was dancing to beautiful music and doing splits and jumping, it was great. Not only girls were in the show, but guys too. Then these 3 guys came out with NO shirts on and they were dancing! You could see every muscle just move and contract. I mean all 3 of them had well built bodies. There were also these guys who danced with the girls and lifted them into the air and twirled them. But anyway, Marcus and Brandon they said that the guys that were dancing must have been gay. I said that they were just jealous because they didn't have any artistic talent and can't lift a girl up in the air all day. I think that a guy who dances is sweet. I mean I think that it's attractive. To express yourself in such a way is just beautiful and to be a guy who isn't afriad to show emotion through ballet dancing, thats just amazing. So what's your oppinon? Do you think guys who dance are gay?

Mikhail Baryshnikov isn't

Do you think guys who dance ballet are gay?mr messed up opera theater

No because if they think ballet is fun, then they can do whatever they feel like and you can't stop them.
well its like saying a girl who does motocross is lesbian...i don't think that's true all the time...
i think its hott

lol
of course not
Its just like anything else, some are definately gay and some definately arent.

Lose weight-for ballet dancer.?

I'm 124 lbs right now, i need to lose weight at least 20 lbs in one month because i know that i'm little overweighted for ballet and i know that my lines and jumps looks bad. Please help me. I'm really stressed about it and i feel so embarassing when i see a thin ballerina.

Lose weight-for ballet dancer.?movie theater

drink nothing but water

just remember that it's more important for a dancer to healthy than skinny.

Lose weight-for ballet dancer.?tickets opera theater

ballet is probably about the best exercise anyone can do, and it does sound like you are about at a healthy weight so you don't want to stress a body that does a lot of exercise and needs feeding properly and is probably quite balanced already right now!

I would talk to your instructor/teacher for ballet and ask if it is necessary for you to lose weight - although don't word it like that because i've asked agents if i'm "not thin enough" and they've freaked out that i'm gonna become ano.

Ask if you need to improve the condition/tone of your body or if your body is a good size for performance. he/she may be able to give you honest advice or a healthy eating plan.

We don't always see ourselves the way we are. I spent basically my entire adolescence (thus far!) thinking people were exaggerating when they said i was "skinny" or just plain lying to me. one day, i look in the mirror and realise i'm not that fat after all, total revelation for me - doesn't mean i don't have fat days from time to time. Although i probably dont spend nearly as much time as you do, in a competitive environment wear my body is truly important to what i do

or wearing slim-fitting leotards!

My advice would be to limit white carbs (like bread, donuts, cake and non-wholegrain pasta) and just keep dancing.

Oh, and see your instructor.

hope i helped

xx A
dont worry about it. im an overweight dancer too. i feel a little bad when i see sticks walking aroung my studio but then i think, hey they have no boobs or butts. i have curves and i like them so w.e. screw being skinny! : )
it is ENTIRELY UNHEALTHY for you to try to lose 20 lbs in a month... Seriously, a healthy rate of weight loss is about a pound per week.

i don't know how tall you are, but my guess is that you aren't even close to being overweight.

Eat healthy: fruits and veggies. Don't starve yourself. Try having a little more self confidence.
it is really good that u r taking ballet because it is really good exercise. a complete change of diet(just substituting, not taking out) for healthy thinkg, and about 30 crunches ecery morning for a while will help u get in better shape

hope i could help : )
124 lbs....What is your height? I am guessing that you are not as "fat" as you seem to think you are. In any case you cannot lose 20 lbs in a month - even if you stopped eating altogether. It is far more important to eat a reduced calorie balanced diet and turn what you think is fat into muscle. If you stop eating you will not have the strength to dance well and that is more important than your physique. I'd also skip pizza, ice cream and cheeseburgers w/fries. Good Luck - you will do fine.
